Princeville, Kauai, Hawaii

Overview Princeville is located on the north shore of the island of Kauai, right in the town of Hanalei. Sitting on the spectacular Hanalei Bay and its distinct Sea Cliffs, Princeville enjoys a close proximity to Waimea Canyon and Napali Coast. It is the northernmost settlement in the Hawaiian Islands. Once upon a time, Hanalei and its lush valleys were farmed by locals prior to the arrival of Captain James Cook in 1778. In the 1800s, the Kingdom of Hawaii’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, a Scotsman named Robert Crichton Wyllie, established a sugar plantation near Hanalei, naming it “Princeville” after Hawaii’s young Crown Prince Albert, who once visited the grounds in the company of his parents, King Kamehameha IV and Queen Emma. It was in 1895 that Princeville was transformed into a ranch upon its acquisition by Albert S. Wilcox. Princeville Ranch and its green pastures still survive to this very day.   Princeville Homes for Sale, Condos and Vacation Rentals
